Four Animals Chosen for Future British Banknotes

The Bank of England has chosen four wild animals for new British banknotes. They are a puffin, a barn owl, a bumblebee and a hedgehog. A banknote is paper-like money that people can hold and spend. The animals will be the main pictures on a future set of notes.
People helped make the choice. Almost 500,000 people shared their views in a public vote. The bank looked at these views before it picked the four animals. But you cannot find these animal notes in shops today. The notes are not ready yet. The bank still needs years to design, test and print them. It has not decided which animal will go on each note.
