Taiwan Extends Paid Marriage Leave to 14 Days

Taiwan plans to give workers more paid time off when they get married. The Ministry of Labor said marriage leave will rise from eight days to 14 days. The new rule is expected to start on October 1. Employees will receive pay for all 14 days.
Workers are eligible when they are covered by Taiwan’s Labor Standards Act. The change will cover Taiwanese and foreign workers under this law. Many office workers and factory workers are covered. But migrant domestic helpers and live-in caregivers are not covered by the act. They will not receive the new leave. The plan must first go through a seven-day public notice period.
