Chinese Quarantine-Box Factories Pivot to Luxury Cabins

During the COVID-19 pandemic, some Chinese factories made small prefabricated rooms for quarantine sites. Prefabricated means the main parts are built in a factory and then moved to another place. After China lifted pandemic controls, this demand fell. At the same time, the country’s property crisis hurt another market for these factories.
Now some firms are changing direction. They make small homes, holiday cabins and garden offices for customers abroad. A factory in Hengshui, northern China, produces stylish cabins with large glass windows. Its chief says foreign markets are larger. The company can build a home in 15 to 25 days. This is a pivot: using old factory skills for a new product.
