At the World Masters Athletics Championships in Daegu, South Korea, older athletes showed what they can still do. Chinese athlete Lu Mingpu, 92, won the M90 long jump with a jump of 2.05 metres. M90 is for athletes aged 90 and over.
Another Chinese athlete, Ding Ming, 82, won the M80 80-metre hurdles in 15.99 seconds. A report said his time improved the Asian record for his age group.
The oldest competitor was Sawang Janpram from Thailand. He is 106 and took part in throwing events. The stories do not mean everyone should train like these athletes. But regular activity can help people stay strong, balanced and able to enjoy daily life as they grow older.
