BYD's Exports Lift Sales as China's Market Cools

Chinese car company BYD sold more vehicles around the world in August. Its global sales rose for the fourth month in a row. The company sold 440,293 vehicles, up 17.8% from a year earlier.
A big reason was overseas sales. BYD sent 189,466 vehicles to markets outside China. That was 134.5% more than a year earlier. These exports helped the company when demand in China was weaker.
China has a very competitive electric-car market. Many companies are trying to sell electric vehicles there. BYD is now looking more strongly at customers in other countries. It sells cars in places such as Europe, Southeast Asia and Brazil. Its goal is to become a global car brand, not only a Chinese one.
