Electric Boats Rise Above Water on Underwater Wings

A small white boat moved across New York Harbor. Then its body rose above the water. The boat used electricity, not diesel fuel. Special wings under the water lifted it. These wings are called hydrofoils.
Most of the boat stayed above the waves. Less of its body touched the water. This helped it move with less energy. Electric boats with these wings already carry people in New Zealand and Sweden.
These boats could help people cross city waters. But they cannot work everywhere. They need places to charge their batteries. Their trips must suit the boats, too. Other electric boats stay in the water. The power used to charge them also matters for pollution.
