Would You Pay 5.1M Yuan for a Trip to Space?

Ctrip has listed a Virgin Galactic space-tourism package starting at 5.1 million yuan per person. The six-day trip is planned for 2027 in New Mexico. It includes time at the company’s spaceport, but customers must arrange and pay for their own international flights, visas and insurance.
The journey is a suborbital flight, not a trip into orbit around Earth. A carrier aircraft takes the spaceship to about 45,000 feet. After release, its rocket motor sends it upward at about three times the speed of sound. Passengers can unbuckle and float for several minutes before the craft returns and glides to the runway.
Virgin Galactic is preparing a new Delta Class spacecraft after VSS Unity made its final commercial flight in June 2024. The company now expects Delta commercial service to start in February 2027, after flight testing begins in October 2026. Its recent 750,000-dollar reservations were oversubscribed, the company said.
