What Happens When a City Hides Its Trains Underground?

A railway runs through Tainan, a city in Taiwan. The tracks make it hard to cross the city. People on foot or bikes cannot always go straight across. Now the city is moving its trains underground, below the streets.
The new line is expected to open on October 17. Later, workers will remove the old tracks. The city plans to use that space for trees and paths. People could walk or ride bikes there. The old station building will stay beside the new underground station.
But the work is not all finished. Opening the new line does not mean the green paths are ready. Changing the space above will take more time.
