In 1986, a nuclear power plant in Chernobyl exploded. It was a terrible disaster. Radioactive material spread across the land. People had to leave their homes. But animals stayed.
Today, many animals live near Chernobyl. Scientists visit to study them. They found tree frogs with darker skin. Some think the dark color helps protect the frogs from radiation. But not everyone agrees.
Many animals now live in the area. Wolves, bears, and deer are common. Without people, nature has grown back. The forest is different now, but it is full of life.
