People are giving money to save land in Queensland, Australia. Koalas, large birds called cassowaries and tree-kangaroos live there. The land is called Wooroora. It is now used for cattle farming.
Bush Heritage Australia wants to buy it and protect the animals' homes. By late October, people had given over 19 million Australian dollars. The group needs more money. It has not bought the land yet.
The land is next to another protected area. Joining them could help animals move between forests. Wooroora is also on the traditional lands of the Jirrbal people. Community members hope to help care for it and protect places important to their culture.
