Chinese runner Zhao Jiaju has won a very hard mountain race in Italy. The Tor des Géants is 330 kilometers long. Zhao finished in 65 hours, 55 minutes and 22 seconds. Reports said he broke the old course record by about 13 minutes.
The race goes through the Alps. Runners climb about 24,000 meters and can face heat, cold and darkness. They have up to 150 hours to finish. Zhao slept very little. At one stop, he rested for only about 20 minutes. He lost the lead after a break, but later ran back into first place and won the race.
