A flash flood hit a mountain area near the border between Nepal and Tibet on 26 August. Fast, muddy water rushed through river valleys. It damaged homes, roads and places that make electricity.
Officials said at least 98 people had died in Nepal and China. Hundreds of people were still missing. Many were tourists or workers travelling in the area. Some tourists were going to Mount Kailash in Tibet.
The numbers are not final. A missing person is someone officials cannot find or contact yet. Rescue teams are searching, and lists may change. Nepal asked India and China to help with rescue work.
