Five Driverless Cars Race at Imola

Five fully autonomous race cars raced at Imola Circuit in Italy on 5 September 2026. An autonomous car is a car that can drive itself. No person sat behind the wheel. The cars used software to accelerate, brake, and turn around the racing track.
Team Kinetiz won the race. The team includes Nanyang Technological University in Singapore, K2 from the UAE, and Alp Autonomy. It was Europe’s first race with five driverless cars on the track together. Racing is hard because each car must watch other cars and make safe choices quickly. Kinetiz started fourth, but finished first after twelve fast laps.
