Are Skills Becoming More Important Than Degrees?

A degree shows that someone has finished university. But it cannot show every skill a person has. On October 19, a new plan in Singapore asked employers to look more closely at what people can do. Employers are the people or companies that give people jobs.
Nelson studied business, not engineering. His employer paid for training and let him learn through real projects. Now he leads a team of engineers. Learning helped him do different work.
The plan gives advice. It does not make companies change their rules. Degrees are still useful, and some jobs need special training. The idea is to consider skills too, including the ability to learn new things.
