Motorcycles usually travel on land. But on 25 October, Zhang Xue rode one across water in Hunan, China. He travelled 40.74 kilometres in about 32 minutes. He made seven turns and set a world record, according to the report.
His motorcycle was special. His team added parts like water skis. The back tyre pushed water behind it. At enough speed, water pushed up against the ski parts. This helped keep the motorcycle above the water. Going too slowly could make it fall in.
Zhang had tried in 2009, but reached only about 20 metres. Better engineering helped him return. Ordinary motorcycles cannot do this. Riding on water is dangerous.
